Developing Great Commission Leaders
Like many others in the Church, I am anxious to help strengthen future mission-minded leaders in their sense of calling. Some suggestions on how I believe we can best help develop leaders to effectively fulfill the Great Commission are:
- Engage them in a personal relationship by taking an interest in their lives.
- Empower them with the truth that they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them. God always empowers to those who say “yes” to Him.
- Equip them by helping them to assess their personal passions and skills and how those passions and skills can be used in service for God’s glory.
- Expose them to different experiences that help create an environment for their growth, especially cross-cultural experiences.
- Encourage them to commit to deepening their own personal and passionate pursuit of Jesus.
- Excite them in their desire to impact their world for Christ by modeling in your own life what it means to be mission-minded.
My prayer is that each of us will be faithful to disciple those that the Lord puts on our paths. With proper leadership and mentoring, these future missionaries and supporters of mission will become authentic leaders who are passionate about living and loving Jesus in whatever culture or context He places them.
